Travis Wyman consolidated a strong opening to his 2025 Super Hooligan campaign by making it two second places from two starts at the Daytona International Speedway.
Making another good start from the front row for Race 2, Travis found himself with a much bigger group of bikes to handle than the previous day, when he’d been able to break clear. This time, we were treated to the sight of six unfaired monsters pushing each other right up to the wall at the top of the banking. As well as a whole lot of bravery, it required a different strategy, so Travis kept himself well-positioned in a lead group of six to launch a late attack.
On the last lap, he got a fast exit out of the infield and hit the final section of banking with a lead of a few bike lengths. It looked like he’d got it, until a slipstreaming effort from the back of the pack snatched the win by a fingertip – less than 3-hundredths of a second. The next four riders were all within 0.4 of a second of Travis’s rear tire.
The strong opening weekend sets up the 2025 season nicely, as Travis leaves Daytona within one point of the championship lead. And, of course, his Bilmola RC-1 race helmet again passed the ultimate test as he hit top speeds of 173mph on the famous banked turns of Daytona International Speedway on a naked bike!
Next up for the Super Hooligans is Barber Motorsports Park on the weekend of April4-6, so stay tuned!
