Travis Wyman takes P2 in MotoAmerica Superstock season opener at Atlanta

Travis Wyman showed he is a genuine contender for the 2023 MotoAmerica Superstock 1000 title by storming through to second place in the very first race of the season at Road Atlanta. The fast,

undulating 2.55 mile circuit always makes for breathtaking racing, and this weekend was no exception. Sporting a brand new helmet design from Bilmola USA and aboard a new BMW S1000 RR, the team struggled with electrical problems during qualifying, but came through to earn fifth place on the starting grid.

When the red lights went out, Travis got the power down well and slotted into fourth as the leaders went into turn one. A group of five soon broke away at the front of the 32-bike field, and Travis pushed hard, muscling his way into third on lap 6 of 13.

In the second half of the race, as tire wear and lapping slower bikes became an increasing factor, the action at the front became more fraught and unpredictable. Travis took maximum advantage, moving into second place for the first time on lap 8 and keeping himself poised for a podium finish as the front five closed up. When it really counted, he put in a stunning last lap to secure second place at the flag. With such a strong start to Travis’s 2023 Superstock campaign, the team at Bilmola USA can’t wait for the next round at Barber Motorsports Park, Alabama on May 19-21.
