With cloudy, breezy weather prevailing throughout the weekend, Travis Wyman put it all on the line in MotoAmerica round 10 at New Jersey Motorsports Park to take second place in the Yuasa Stock 1000 race.
Travis Wyman takes P2 on the podium
Bilmola USA-sponsored Wyman was fast from the off, topping the timesheets in free practice and qualifying second to start from the middle of the front row. He got a perfect launch from lights out, to lead the first lap before running into a wall of rain on the far side of the circuit. He reacted quickly to raise his hand, and the red flag was shown to bring the 24-bike field back to the pits.
After a short delay, the rain disappeared, and the grid formed again for a race that was reduced from 15 to 10 laps. This time, Travis got away in second before making his way to the front on lap two. He led until half distance, when he moved back to second, engaging in a close two-way fight for the lead as the rest of the field slipped further behind.
A light drizzle returned with two laps remaining, but did nothing to dampen the contest at the front. Travis continued to push for the win, despite the slick track surface - and was just two-tenths adrift as they took the checkered flag and a full four seconds clear of the bike in third.
